#0565 64" Vintage - 10 Spoke Huge Ships Wheel From Estate Of "Peggy Slater" Famous Yachting Lady, who In 1939 Was 1st Place Winner Of The Pacific Coast Regatta At The Golden Gate San Francisco Bay

64" VINTAGE - 10 SPOKE HUGE SHIPS WHEEL FROM ESTATE OF "PEGGY SLATER" FAMOUS YACHTING LADY,WHO IN 1939 WAS 1ST PLACE WINNER OF THE PACIFIC COAST REGATTA AT THE GOLDEN GATE SAN FRANCISCO BAY

PEGGY SLATER's 1939 - 1st place winner YACHTING TROPHY is mounted in the hub's center of this beautiful 10-Spoke 64" Wheel. She salvaged the wheel from a ship wreck off the coast of Mexico and used later as her coffee table (picture in book by Shelly Usen: "PEGGY: An Affair with the Sea" -- see photo of table pages 72-73). We acquired the wheel some time ago from her estate. The Wheel is now beautifully restored and will make a great center piece on wall, or a 64" coffee table (a gorgeous wood base is available, no glass). GREAT CENTER PIECE for Yacht clubs or.....?

Truly ONE OF A KIND!

"HAYWARD" - FERRY BOAT 72 "VINTAGE 10 SPOKE WHEEL -1923 - SAN FRANCISCO, WITH RICH PROVENANCE

This huge 72" wheel from San Francisco Ferry Boat "HAYWARD" comes with a rich provenance documenting its history. We were fortunate to receive with the other documentation an original letter from the "San Francisco Maritime Museum" addressed to the previous owner dated Sept.25, 1968, a reference made and a photo of the "Hayward" under way. Built by Los Angeles Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Corp. of San Pedro, CA in 1922. Entered service in 1923, first to keys ferry service, then to Portland, Oregon in 1943, then towed back to San Francisco that year to haul workers to S.F. bay shipyards. Following its yeoman wartime service it was sold for scrap in 1947. This "One of a Kind" huge 10 spoke Ferry Boat wheel features a huge heavy bronze hub, great two tone wood contrasts. A Museum Quality wheel with a great history! Don't miss this one!
