CASED SIREN/ FOG HORNPortable emergency ship's cased siren/ fog horn. This hand-powered fog horn produces a very loud ear piercing sound, used in case of failure of the ship's electrically powered fog horn. As stated by a sign on this boxed instrument, 33 cranks of the handle fully charges the system, then by moving a lever, the huge sound bursts out. It could be heard 1.5 miles away. The unit is made of light weight aluminum, and can be easily stored within the case, which measures 12 1/2" h x 9 1/2" wide x 20 3/4" long; completely revarnished, ready to be proudly displayed in your nautical room (great for parties). TAFFRAIL LOG - "JOHN BLISS & CO"This is an old timer, one of the early model taffrail logs made by John Bliss circa 1900's. John Bliss was one of our premier instrument makers. This unit has a porcelain face with 3 dials that register different increments of distance traveled. The top of the porcelain face is marked with the maker's name: "John Bliss & Co Taffrail Log, New York U.S.A." We offer this in "as found" condition, with a lovely patina. A great decor item! |

RARE MASSEY TAFFRAIL LOG - DISTANCE INDICATORThis is a rare solid brass taffrail log with a porcelain dial. The instrument was made and signed "EDW.d MASSEY, patentee, LONDON." Slightly above is marked in an oval circle, "Original LLL trademar k." On top of the dial are further markings: "New Yacht Log." This appears to be one of Massey's earliest. Has 3 rotating dials that register the distance in nautical miles traveled. In good condition with rope and thimble still attached to the unit with nice age patina. Additionally marked: "F. M. MOORE, LTD, BELFAST & DUBLIN, # 16014." Measures 15.75" long. |

MASTER & OFFICER DIVER'S PLAQUEA polished and lacquered brass plaque of the insignia of a Navy Master Diver and Diving Officer. The Master Diver designation is quite a feat to earn. After several years of experience and upon being invited to participate, a Chief Petty officer, Senior Chieff Petty Officer, or Master Chief Petty officer (E7, E8, E9) can undergo evaluation to become a Master Diver. Upon selection by the board of peers and successful completion of all areas of diving expertise, he is then awarded the designation of Master Diver. In the Navy awards and decorations manual, the Master diver pin is silver and the officer pin Gold. Our brass plaque represents both. Depicts a hard hat deep sea diving helmet flanked by two sea horses, with tridents sprouting at port and starboard from the top of the bonnet. Measures 6" in diameter and weighs 2.3 lbs. VINTAGE GAUGES w/ BLACK FACE WW IIHandsome World War II gauges salvaged from a U. S. Navy vessel. The markings on the black face differ according to which gauge is available at time of order. Most will say something like "Measures 0 to 2000 hydraulic pressure." On the bottom of the face is the maker's name: "U. S. Gauge Co. N.Y." Overall diameter is 6".
