RARE BRASS US NAVY
WW2 SUBMARINE SALV. AIR RESCUE PLAQUE
Rarer than hens teeth this AUTHENTIC brass 15" x 7 1/2" rectangular plaque was salvaged from a submarine circa 1978 and has been in our collection since. Below the top larger cut out circle it reads: in the plaque it reads "SALV. AIR AFT ENG. ROOM" Above the smaller bottom circle it reads: "OPEN" with an ARROW above pointing counter clockwise. The plaque was fastened to the outer hull of the sub indicating the below corresponding area. Vertically shown on the right side 9 large round brass slotted screw heads. The number of screw heads and location would assist Rescue Divers to find the right compartment they were looking for by feel under zero visibility conditions. A truly rare and valuable addition to a US Navy collection, especially the few surviving Submarines. The Plaque is beautifully polished and lacquered. |

WW2 SUBMARINE SALV. AIR AFT TORP. ROOM RESCUE PLAQUE
19" X 7 3/8 "Extremely rare U S Navy WW2 Submarine rectangular brass plaque reading:"SALV. AIR AFT TORP. ROOM", salvaged from a submarine circa 1978 and has been in our collection since. Below the top larger cut out circle it reads: "SALV. AIR AFT TORP. ROOM". Above the smaller bottom circle it reads: "OPEN" with ARROW pointing counter clock wise. This plaque was fastened to the outer hull of the sub indicating the below corresponding Aft Torpedo Room compartment. 14 - Large brass slotted round screw heads, located above each other on the left side would assist the rescue divers in their effort to find the above compartment they were looking for, perhaps feeling around the hull in murky waters in zero visibility. Polished and lacquered.

MASTER & OFFICER DIVER'S PLAQUEA polished and lacquered brass plaque of the insignia of a Navy Master Diver and Diving Officer. The Master Diver designation is quite a feat to earn. After several years of experience and upon being invited to participate, a Chief Petty officer, Senior Chieff Petty Officer, or Master Chief Petty officer (E7, E8, E9) can undergo evaluation to become a Master Diver. Upon selection by the board of peers and successful completion of all areas of diving expertise, he is then awarded the designation of Master Diver. In the Navy awards and decorations manual, the Master diver pin is silver and the officer pin Gold. Our brass plaque represents both. Depicts a hard hat deep sea diving helmet flanked by two sea horses, with tridents sprouting at port and starboard from the top of the bonnet. Measures 6" in diameter and weighs 2.3 lbs.
