VICTORIAN ERA GIRANDOLES
WALL MIRRORS WITH SCONCES
A fabulous pair of completely restored Victorian Era Girandoles. Webster defines a girandole as an ornamental branched candlestick. These particular girandoles are wall mirrors with sconces, done in the Rococo Revival style, which is based on the Louis XV Rococo style of the mid 1700s. We purchased these Girandoles a few years ago from an antique dealer, who had owned them for many decades. She had been told that they had arrived in the United States by Clipper Ship in the late 1800s. A section of newspaper, used as backing behind the mirror, is dated August 15, 1879. These Girandoles were completely restored in 2001 by Katherine Lee Taylor, a noted restoration expert in West Hollywood, California. Her work order and invoice, detailing the conservation work undertaken, are available for serious buyers.
Measurements are 52" tall, 27" wide, and 10.5" deep.

VINTAGE PERCUSSION PISTOL
Bram Surquin, a collector of antique arms, has a pistol like this on display, He tells us that the inscription in the lock plate -- the lion holding a crown -- is the mark of the East Indian Company (commonly called EIC). In Europe this pistol is known as an EIC pistol, and is commonly accepted as a British colonial weapon.
Ours is in good condition for its age, with a nice patina on both metal and wood. Butt has been fitted with a lanyard hook, possibly for sea service. Great collectors item.
